Rafu'd

"Where Fabrics Tell Their Own Stories"

Rafu'd is a fusion of heritage and modernity, where handcrafted textures, bold prints, and contemporary silhouettes come together to tell a story. The name Rafu'd, derived from the Urdu word rafu (mending), reflects its dedication to meticulous craftsmanship and reinvention. Inspired by Gujarats rich culture, the brand draws from India's textile legacy, working closely with artisans in Kutch and Ahmedabad to create custom cotton fabrics. With a vibrant and quirky aesthetic, Rafu'd challenges the idea that sustainable fashion is muted, proving that eco-conscious clothing can be bold, expressive, and full of life.

Craftsmanship

Rafu'd begins each season with a journey to Kutch, where a single weaver family sets a fresh warp of indigenous kala cotton solely for the label. Loom chatter and desert wind set the rhythm; colour arrives later in Ahmedabad, where tie‐dye maestros knot, dip, and unfurl explosions of pigment across the newly woven cloth. Every bolt is then cut and stitched by hand, textures layered and selvedges left to whisper its making. Only natural, biodegradable fibres and dyes enter the studio, ensuring each piece can one day return harmlessly to earth. The result is living narrative textile-bold, tactile, and unmistakably Rafu'd.

Meet Shaishavi Mehta, the Designer

Growing up in a Gujarati household, Shaishavi was surrounded by stories - her mother's deep love for history and crafts, and her father's love for travel. Family trips were mini history lessons, with her mother always bringing back a piece of tradition, whether it was fabric or handicrafts. These experiences sparked Shaishavi's lifelong connection to India's rich cultural heritage. A natural storyteller, Shaishavi draws inspiration from ancient religious and folk tales, with Natyashastra - the ancient treatise on performing arts - deeply influencing her design philosophy. Her passion for tradition stayed with her as she grew older, and this manifests through Rafu'd, a brand that celebrates heritage with a contemporary twist.
