Turn Black

"Less is more"

Turn Black began as a quiet defiance—of rules, labels, and the noise of fast fashion. Here, black is not absence; it’s power, depth, and identity. Each silhouette is fluid, unboxed by gender or trend, made for those who feel most visible in what’s unseen. With comfort as the core value and slow fashion as its rhythm, the brand champions quality, durability, and the right to take up space—silently, confidently. Crafted ethically and rooted in sustainability, every piece lets you move, feel, and exist freely. This isn’t just clothing—it’s armor for the inward thinker, the quiet rebel, the ones who turn black and find themselves.

Craftsmanship

At Turn Black, every piece begins with intent and ends with integrity. Their made-to-order model allows them to dye and now even weave their own fabrics—crafted from GOTS-certified and Fair Trade organic cotton. From kantha stitching and patchwork to appliqué and beadwork, traditional techniques shape their size- and gender-inclusive silhouettes. All production happens in-house with artisans based in Delhi, where fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity are non-negotiable. They repurpose fabric scraps into bags and capsule collections, use no plastic in packaging, and continue evolving towards a more ethical, circular, and inclusive future—one garment at a time.

Meet Nutan Dayal, the Designer

Nutan’s journey as a designer has always been about challenging the notion of conformity — particularly in how we define clothing, identity, and beauty. She’s drawn to silhouettes that defy structure and refuse to fit into neat categories. Rather than tailoring garments to fit societal expectations of form or gender, she focuses on creating pieces that allow the human body to be fluid, free, and unlabelled. For her, designing is a process of building a visual language rooted in subtlety and strength. Inspired by symmetry, simplicity, and functionality, her designs follow a “less is more” philosophy. From minimalist hand-embroidery to carefully chosen fabrics that drape and move with the wearer, every detail is intentional. Each piece starts with a feeling, an idea, or a visual. The process is collaborative, involving her team and skilled artisans who bring soul to every stitch. For Nutan, clothing isn’t just worn — it’s experienced.
