The Creation Process

Doh Tak Keh blends Indian craft with a bold, modern voice. Each piece is made in Mumbai by a small team of skilled artisans and tailors, using techniques like hand weaving, embroidery, patchwork appliqué, and fabric manipulation. The brand often draws from everyday street visuals—turning textures and type into detailed, hand-finished designs. Fabrics like Tencel and Bemberg keep things planet-friendly, while small-batch production and upcycling help reduce waste. Doh Tak Keh also works closely with artisan communities across India, especially in West Bengal and Mumbai, ensuring fair pay, ongoing collaboration, and garments that carry real craft and character.

Meet Juhi Melwani, the Designer

Juhi’s design journey began at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she honed her skills in the structured chaos of the fashion world, working with renowned names like Oscar de la Renta. However, it wasn’t until she returned to Mumbai that she truly discovered her design voice. A project with textile artisans in Kutch introduced her to the rich cultural tapestry of India’s crafts, inspiring her to create something bold. What started as a storytelling blog, ‘Know Your Darjee,’ soon became Doh Tak Keh — her tribute to India’s visual quirks, forgotten crafts, and unapologetic street style.
