Ka-Sha

"Celebrating life and all that we see around us"

Ka-Sha strikes you first with its signature geometric, "minimally maximalist" aesthetic and then with intricate hand-appliquéd surfaces. Deeply rooted in circularity and zero-waste principles, the brand celebrates Indian crafts through graphically engaging, modern designs—perfect for independent thinkers unafraid to stand out and explore.

The Creation Process

Ka-Sha’s mission is to use design to celebrate artisanal techniques, so it comes as no surprise that each Ka-Sha piece embodies contemporary design rich in Indian craftsmanship. The brand extensively uses handwoven textiles and traditional techniques like Tie & Dye, Clamp Dye, Appliqué, and intricate embroidery—both hand and machine-made. Working closely with skilled artisan communities and hosting artisans at their Pune studio ensures authentic, meticulous craftsmanship. Sustainability—the second pillar of Ka-Sha’s mission—complements production through natural materials, circular practices that upcycle pre-consumer fabric waste, mend-and-repair services, fair wages, cruelty-free methods, and supportive working conditions.

Meet Karishma Shahani Khan, the Designer

Karishma Sahani’s journey as a designer began at the London College of Fashion, UK, where she gained a global perspective on design. Spending time outside India, she grew to appreciate the immense resources and skilled crafts India had to offer. This realization, along with the visual and cultural inspirations from her homeland, drew her back to India to start her label, Ka-Sha. Her work is deeply influenced by Indian traditions — not just in craft and art, but also in philosophies such as reuse and repurpose. Karishma’s designs celebrate the richness of India’s heritage while embracing sustainable practices.
