The Creation Process

Rias Jaipur begins with hand‐spun cotton, thrown onto looms in West Bengal where extra‐warp and extra‐weft threads raise kantha‐like ridges across the cloth. Back in Jaipur, block‐printers snap hand‐carved teak blocks into natural, azo‐free dyes, stamping motifs that feel both time‐worn and fresh. Off‐cuts never hit the bin: women's collectives in Udaipur and Rajsamand patch, appliqué, and tanka‐stitch the scraps into new yardage for the label's zero‐waste "Re! 2.0" drops. Every step-yarn, dye, weave, print-is done by hand, under fair‐trade terms, by a tight crew of 20‐plus artisans. The result is fabric that carries the rhythm of two states and a promise of nothing wasted.

Meet Arshia and Avishek, the Designer

Avishek and Arshia are on a mission to save India's indigenous textiles and crafts. They've dedicated their lives to preserving these rich traditions. Their journey began in 2017, driven by a desire to keep the handmade techniques of Dabu, Bagru, and hand block printing alive. With a combination of their industry experience and Avishek's personal connection to weaving, the duo set out to make this mission their own. Avishek's background is unique - coming from a family of weavers, he was exposed to the lives of artisans in a way that most designers aren't. This perspective deeply influenced his appreciation for handloom and artisanal techniques, shaping the vision of Rias Jaipur. Together, they've created a brand that blends ancient craftsmanship with modern design, all while staying committed to their mission of preserving these beautiful traditions.
